Social club cleans funeral parlour

KwaThema - Members of Lesedi Social Club painted Makaula Funeral Undertakers on Saturday.

The funeral parlour is one of the oldest funeral parlours in KwaThema.

While painting the building, members of Lesedi Social Club were joined by the African Reporter’s sale consultant Gertrude Shabangu.

Collen Ndlovu, chairman of the club, says one of the reasons they chose to spend Mandela Day cleaning the parlour is because of the role which the centre played in 1976.

“The parlour helped more than 100 families bury their children who were killed in the 1976 massacre,” says Ndlovu.

Speaking on behalf of the parlour, Thembi Mthingi says they are grateful for the work done by the club.

“It shows that the work that we do is appreciated by the community which we serve,” says Mthingi.

She concluded by encouraging local clubs to take responsibility in helping the community.
