Duduza CPF protest for justice

Duduza-The Community Policing Forum (CPF) cluster in Duduza gathered outside the Duduza Police Station this morning in a quest to deliver a memorandum entailing the many grievances they have with the association.

The members allege that there is a lot of corruption going on within the organization and they want something to be done.

They claim they were removed from their jobs as security guards at schools and new members of the public were hired after just working a few months.

Phumzile Ndlhovu (49), a CPF volunteer says she is sad that they gave their time to protect the community and now they are being neglected.

“I was not doing this for the money, but to keep my community safe from all the crime that is happening and now we are not even appreciated,” says Ndlhovu.

Patrollers say all they want is for the entire CPF executive board to be dissolved immediately.

Communications Spokesperson of the Duduza Police Station Warrant Office Yakub Rasool, said the application for the protest was denied due to many factors they may not disclose at the moment.

Protesters were asked to disperse because the protest was illegal and the matter would be discussed with the appropriate officials.

Sibusiso Thuso (23),  who is the CPF convener claims they followed the correct procedures to grant them the right to protest and deliver a memorandum at the police station.

“We are surprised to find out that the protest is illegal after we delivered everything on time,” says Thuso.
