Car up for sale is hijacked

Slovo Park - A 60-year-old man was recently robbed of his car by two men who pretended to be interested in purchasing it.

The car owner had parked his car, a silver/grey Ford Bantam bakkie, next to Welgedacht Road in order to sell it.

According to Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora, the victim was visited by two men who claimed to be from Delmas and showed interest in buying the car.

He says it is alleged the men left the car owner and claimed they were going to fetch R90 000 to buy the car.

“The suspects later called the victim and claimed to have car problems, they asked him to come fetch them a few kilometres away,” says Ramphora.

He says when the car owner arrived to fetch them, they forced him out of his car and fled the scene.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the men can contact Springs police on 011 365 5700/19/20.
