Youth clean illegal dumping site

Tsakane - The Tsakane Youth Development Programme cleaned an illegal dumping site on Saturday.

The site is situated in the Central Park, on Fingo Street.

As the organisation’s way of encouraging the youth’s involvement in the community, it invited young people from the community to take a stand against illegal dumping.

Speaking on behalf of the organisation’s managing director, Pule Moloi says the organisation saw the need to ensure a clean environment.

“The illegal dumping sites in the townships are the cause of rats, which, at times, become a treat to children,” says Moloi, adding that his organisation will continue to contribute towards creating a clean, healthy and safe environment.

He appeals to the community to take responsibility for keeping the park clean and using it for the benefit of the community.

One of the residents who lives not far from the park, Innocent Khumalo (56), says the cleaning of the area will help them to breath fresh air.

“Because of the filth that covered the park and the bad smell from the area, we were forced to always keep our windows and doors closed,” he explains.

He also appeals to the community to ensure that the park is kept clean.
