Local taxi driver hijacked by three men

KwaThema - A local taxi driver was hijacked by three men who pretended to be passengers.

The incident took place on Tuesday at around 7pm.

Capt Johannes Ramphora of Springs police says the 38-year-old driver gave a lift to the three men from the Duduza Rank to Reedville.

He says when the men were supposed to get out of the vehicle, a silver Toyota Tazz, one of them grabbed the driver from behind.

The robbers demanded cash from the driver, who later managed to escape from the car.

“The suspects fled the scene in the victim’s car,” says Ramphora.

No arrests have been made and the police are investigating a case of hijacking.
