Robbers take off with cellphones

Everest - One of three house robbery suspects was arrested by police last Friday.

This follows a house robbery at a home in Ekuthuleni Street, Gugulethu/Everest Informal Settlement, at 9.30pm.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the 41-year-old complainant was with her boyfriend and neighbour at her shack when the incident took place.

He says the victim explains three armed men stormed the shack and instructed them to lie down before searching them.

Ramphora adds the men then robbed the victims of four cellphones.

“The victims were able to identify one of the robbers,” says Ramphora.

Police were called and managed to arrest one suspect.

The search for the two other robbers is underway and police are investigating a case of house robbery.

If you have the information that may lead to the arrest of the two men, contact the Springs police station on 011 365 5700/19/20.
