It’s smooth cycling on one of these

KwaThema - Nkosana Madi (30), who was born and raised in KwaThema, is a motorised bicycle manufacturer.

He takes a ‘normal’ bicycle and attaches a petrol motor to it. This powers the bicycle and removes the need for pedalling.

Madi went to Zamane Primary School and matriculated from Reshogofaditswe Secondary School

He explains he studied civil engineering at the Ekurhuleni East College Springs CampusMadi also studied Information Technology at the campus and did a correspondence course in marketing through Unisa.

“I began to play around with machinery at a young age, and transformed an old portable cassette tape device into a home radio with big speakers,” Madi says.

He says during high school, he designed a curtain motor that enabled his curtains to be opened automatically.

Madi explains the advantage of owning a motorised bicycle is the low fuel consumption.

He says he has experienced challenges selling his product to certain markets because it is unique.

He advises aspiring engineers to study any course in engineering.

Madi’s motto is:”Be your own mentor, have a vision and put it to words and be an entrepreneur”.
