According to Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora, a witness heard someone screaming from the main street at around 8pm.
The witness went to investigate and found a man lying on the ground.
Police were called to the scene, and the man – who had 15 stab wounds to his back, neck and head – was declared dead.
No arrests have been made and police are investigating a case of murder.
