Awards for best students

KwaThema - Sixteen students from the Tool, Die and Mould-making (TDM) Programme were acknowledged for their work by the National Tooling Initiative Programme (NTIP) at an awards ceremony last Thursday.

The students recently completed their theory and practical training in tool, die and mould-making.

The ceremony was held the the Ekurhuleni East College for Further Educational Training in KwaThema.

Frederick Makgalemame from KwaThema received an award for the best overall level three achiever, while Mxolisi Mnguni, also from KwaThema, received an award for being the best practical achiever.

Other recipients include Sello Mofokeng from Springs and Thamsanqa Thomo from KwaThema.

Speaking on behalf of the NTIP, communication manager Itumeleng Makgobathe explains the TDM programme is a joint initiative between the NTIP and the Department of Trade and Industry.

NTIP CEO Dirk van Dyk says he is proud of the students.

“The successful training of these students will pave the way towards a successful rehabilitation of the tool, die and mould-making industry,” he says.

He then congratulated the students on their achievements and wished them well for the future.
