Damaged street wrecks cars

Tsakane - Motorists have complained that driving along Ndaba Street is a nightmare.

According to resident Innocent Ximba (33), he noticed a section of the road was badly damaged about five months ago.

The cause of the damage is not known, but it is believed to be wear and tear.

Despite the matter being reported to the Ekurhuleni Metro, nothing has been done about it.

A frustrated Ximba explains the road not only damages motorists’ cars, but it also impacts on traffic, which slows down to a snail’s pace in the direction of the Pholosong Hospital.

He fears the road’s poor condition will also soon have an effect on those living nearby.

“We are worried taxi drivers will refuse to drop off passengers living in the vicinity, because they won’t want to risk their tyres,” says Ximba.

Following many complaints from residents about the problem, DA PR Councillor Jacky Reilly visited the area last Monday to inspect the road.

Armed with a petition, Reilly told residents that the matter will be reported to the metro.

She hopes the road will be repaired soon.

The area’s ward councillor, Joseph Saul, was not available for comment at the time of going on print.
