Local sportsman to shine in Ekurhuleni Sports Awards
Kwatsaduza - Local sporting clubs and athletes have been nominated for Ekurhuleni Sports Awards.
The awards, which recognise sporting excellence in the region, will be held at the Alberton Civic Centre on May 27.
Innocent Mayoyo (49), founder of Ayoba-Yo-Youth Soccer Academy, has been nominated for the MMC’s Special Merit Award.
Competing in the Women with Disability Sports category are Zandile Nhlapho (21) and Mbali Madondo (23) from the KwaThema Disability Club.The club has also been nominated in the Team of the Year category.
Geo Maroon Boxing Club coach Themba Zulu (48) has been nominated in the Coach of the Year category, while boxer Mxolisi Nombewu (27) has received a nomination in the Sportsman of the Year category.
“We are all grateful that Ekurhuleni recognises our hard work in trying to keep sport alive in Kwatsaduza,” says Zulu.
