Music teacher dies

Tsakane - Music teacher Ephraim 'Oupa' Mlangeni died on May 14, at the age of 49.

Mlangeni was born on March 5, 1966, in Bloekomspruit, near Vereeniging.

He received his primary and secondary school education at Molwane Combined School in Harrismith, Free State, and studied music at Wits University.

Mlangeni was a talented musician and could play the piano, trumpet and guitar.

After completing his studies, he became involved with the youth and taught them how to musical instruments.

He joined the Fuba School of Music, in Johannesburg, in 1995, where he was a lecturer and the director.

Mlangi also worked with and trained choristers from the St Mathew’s Methodist Church Choir, the Witbank Choral, the Duduza Serenade Choir and Sibonisiwe Primary School Choir.

His wife Busisiwe Mlangeni explains her husband was passionate about music and even travelled to Finland, Sweden, Canada and England to perform and express his talent.

He is survived by his wife Busisiwe, his mother Sophie and two sisters, Bonang and Anastasia.

The funeral service will be held at 8am tomorrow (Saturday) at the Faranani Multi-Purpose Centre, in Tsakane.

The cortège will leave for the Vlakfontein Cemetery at 11.30am.
