AUDIO & VIDEO: PFG workers’ strike still peaceful
A protest is currently underway at the PFG Building Glass in Industria Road, New Era.
A crowd of PFG Building Glass workers, who are allegedly unsatisfied with work circumstances, slowly started gathering at 4.30am this morning, gaining momentum and audience as they became more boisterous.
Currently, management of the company has not yet addressed the workers, however they are presently in a meeting with Numsa to discuss the matters.
Some of the workers say that the strike is due to their working conditions and shift patterns imposed on them by the company, but this has not been confirmed by either Numsa or management .
Cecil Swartz, representative of Numsa, says the workers were addressed by the organiser of the protest. Listen to his remarks below.
A journalist is currently on the scene awaiting comment from the company and further comment from Numsa.
Company representatives are currently in a meeting with Numsa and a statement will be issued once this meeting has been concluded.
