Langaville protest causes chaos

Residents of Langaville were in a violent protest from the early hours of the morning today along Black Road between Tsakane and the Duduza Rank.

This comes after the red ants allegedly removed illegal cables in the area last night and assaulted residents while doing so.

Resident of Langaville Tumi Mahlangu alleges they are protesting because the red ants switched off electricity in the area last night and even assaulted a few community members who tried to stop them.

Mahlangu says the community then decided, last night after a meeting, there will be a protest in the morning.

Another Resident from the area, Matsepo Nhlapho says she could not go to work this morning because stones were being thrown all over the place while the people were protesting.

“I do not understand why the protesters are damaging stop signs and throwing stones at cars that were trying to pass Black Road as it has nothing to do with their concerns” she complains.

Ward 78 councillor, Mtumeleni Ndita says he does not know who instructed the red ants to disconnect illegal connections at Langaville last night.

Ndita explains there are allegations from people the red ants assaulted them.

He adds he is currently under police protection because the residents have threatened to burn his house.

The police dispersed the crowd who had damaged road signs and stoned a passing Taxi.
