Boxing club introduces body buidling

The Geo Maroon Boxing Club in KwaThema is known for producing the best boxers in the township, but now the club will also produce the best body builders.

It is known for producing well skilled, recognised boxers, and hope to continue it’s good name in other disciplines as the club has now introduced aerobics and body building programmes.

The programmes were introduced at the end of January and already have more than 20 members.

Among the newly recruited members in the club are females, the majority of whom are training to lose weight.

Themba Zulu, the boxing coach at the club, said the new programmes are opened to all the residents of Kwatsaduza who want to lose weight and keep healthy.

“The club did not want to only focus in boxing but to open the opportunity to others who want to use the club for the benefit of their health and fitness,” Zulu said.

Ngcebo Dlamini who is one of the body builders and a trainer at the club said the response the club is receiving from the residents who are interested in joining the new programmes is evidence that the community members are eager to look after their health through exercising.

He said the exercising activities done by those he trains are not only good for their outside appearance but also help train their minds.

Dlamini challenged Kwatsaduza residents to take their health seriously by ensuring that their bodies are in good condition to function for a long time.

“A healthy body is an exercising body,” Dlamini believes.

The training sessions start at 6am until 8am during the week while on Saturday the sessions take place between 7am and 2pm.

Anyone who is interested in joining the club should contact coach Themba Zulu on 084 317 6456.
