Studying or working after failing matric

It is few hours for the matric results to be announced.

To those who were writing this year, the few weeks that are left before the release of their results seem like a long wait.

Students are waiting to see what their future holds for them, however, not everyone will be happy when the results come out.

For those who did not pass matric, the provincial department of education shares a few tips with them, including their parents.

According to the department’s spokesman, Phumla Sekhonyane the department has tips for the parents and the students who failed their exams.

She says parents are advised to monitor their children’s behaviour to negative results and always provide them with the support that they need.

Sekhonyane adds that it is the parents’ responsibility to encourage their children not to give up and make them understand that there are successful people today who also failed their matric but went back to school until they passed.

Sekhonyane says those who will be failing the grade must go to their schools to find out how they can register to write the supplementary exams if they qualify.

“Those who will require to re-write matric can register at their schools or seek advice from their nearest ABET centre,” says Sekhonyane.

The founder of the Ntsane Masiloane school enrichment programmes, Ntsane Masiloane also advises those who failed matric about the other available options that will help them to get the education that they want.

He advises them to register at a college or apply for internship programmes that cater for those who failed matric.

“The colleges and the internship programmes will help to prepare them for the working place,” concludes Ntsane.
