Recovering drug addicts get motivation

The Kwatsaduza recovering drug addicts, known as Amajita, spent time encouraging each other in Heidelburg.

About 25 drug addicts admitted that they have a problem and need help to stop using drugs.

After completing a process of detoxification at Pholosong Hospital, the recovering drug addicts were transported by the Tsakane Youth Development Programme (TYDP) in partnership with Edmond Sibaya from KwaThema JBS, to a three-day camp at Suikerbosrand camp site in Heidelburg last Friday.

“After they attended the free, two-week detox programme, we wanted to give them support to

change their mindset and their lives for the better,” said Pule Moloi, TYDP chairman.

He said during the camp, Amajita were given words of motivation.

Gopolang Dintwe was one of the speakers who motivated Amajita and encouraged them to strive to change their lives for the better.

“The aim of the camp is to discover who you are and start today to build your good life,” said Dintwe.

He assured Amajita that the community will support them if they want to change.

Anyone who needs assistance to stop using drugs can contact the TYDP on 011 732 1242 or visit their offices at the Tsakane Old Age Home on Monday to Friday between 8am to 4pm.
