Committed to ensure safe scholar transport

The Far East Rand Education Transport Service (FERETS) has a new executive committee.

The 12 new executive members occupied the office from September 20 and are expected to serve a one year term until a new executive is elected.

Amos Mahlangu, general secretary says the newly elected committee will work to ensure that all its members comply with the the rules of the transport service.

He reminded the members to apply for their permits.

“No car will transport children to and from school without a permit,” says Mahlangu.

Speaking about the challenges they face, Jabulani Hadebe, chairman for the association, says most of the parents who depend on scholar transport to and from school are ignorant about many safety concerns.

“Parents do not first ensure the condition and road worthiness of the transport that takes their children to school,” said Hadebe.

He urged parents to work hand-in-hand with their office by reporting anything that might put the lives of their children in danger when using scholar transport such as overloading.
