Sunlight challenge in Tsakane

Residents at Tsakane were treated to a free lunch while also being shown the ways to save using Sunlight dishwashing liquid.

Sunlight recently embarked on the 30 000 Challenge.

This challenge sees Sunlight representatives travelling around the country and attempting to clean 30 000 plates with just one 750ml bottle of the dishwashing liquid.

On Tuesday it was Tsakane residents’ turn to have a free lunch from Sunlight and then have the opportunity to see the Sunlight representatives washing a pile of 30 000 dirty dishes.

Speaking on behalf of Sunlight, Angie Reddy, project coordinator, said despite the fact that Sunlight wants to show the citizens that a 750ml bottle of Sunlight dishwashing liquid can wash 30 000 dishes, they are also helping to feed the hungry.

“The challenge is also about providing lunch to the disadvantaged families including their children when coming back from school,” said Reddy.

She said as they have partnered with KIC, in some areas where they see the need they also donate a brand new cooking stove to encourage the unemployed to open their own catering businesses.

One of the residents, Samke Ndlovu, thanked Sunlight for providing them with a free lunch.

“It was not only about a free lunch but I have learnt a lot today,” said Ndlovu.
