Police donate to the needy

Learners received new school jerseys from the police.

About 113 Grade R and Grade One learners now have one more school jersey to protect them from the freezing weather.

This is after the Springs Cluster police donated 113 brand new school jerseys to the learners at Sizwesethu Primary School in Duduza last Thursday.

According to KwaThema police spokesman Captain Mandla Phori, the donation is part of the project of giving back to the community by the police, adding that it is also a way of creating a relationship between the police and the children.

“We want to plant a seed of trust, protection and ensure they are comfortable around the police in the young minds of the Kwatsaduza community,” said Phori.

He also said that because police are also parents and understand the difficulties that some of the families are faced with, the police will not only serve by protecting them but also help towards building an educated nation.

He says they also donated to the three other primary schools in KwaThema

Pinkie Violet Masimony from the Duduza CPF mediation desk said the police believes in the power of education.

She also thanked them for changing the lives of the children from poor backgrounds.

Principal Vusumuzi Gule confirmed that most of the learners at his school are from poor families.

“The majority of learners between five and 10 years old live with their grandparents while others seem to have been living with negligent parents,” said Gule.

He also thanked the police for the donation, saying that it will help make the learners look equal.
