On the big screen: Edge of Tomorrow

The near future is the setting for this action sci-fi film.

During humanity’s war against an invading alien race, a raw, untrained soldier lives his last day of life over and over again, continuously dying in battle in some kind of time-loop that varies only in how it happens.

On one occasion, as he is about to be killed yet again, he finds himself in the company of a highly-trained female soldier who tells him to concentrate all his efforts on finding her again when he regains life.

Upon reawakening he goes looking for her to find out what is happening to him and to learn whether she carries the secret that will make it stop.
