A double dose of Smurf-tastic adventure

DVD: The Smurfs Reviewed by: Gareth Drawbridge Review made possible by: NuMetro

Lock up your dogs, mind your step and keep

a sharp look out for any blue critters frolicking merrily around your house.

That’s right… the Smurfs are on the loose and, wherever they go, you can be sure that adventures of epic proportions are

sure to follow.

After being chased from the safety of their magical village, several Smurfs (Papa Smurf, Clumsy, Smurfette, Grouchy, Brainy

and Gutsy) find themselves lost in New York City.

Without a star gazer to guide them home, the Smurfs plight is made worse by the fact that they are being stalked by their nemesis, the evil wizard Gargamel (Hank Azaria) and his feline companion Azrael.

Lost in the Big Apple, the Smurfs soon land up in the apartment of Patrick (Neil Patrick Harris) and Grace Winslow (Jayma Mays).

The expectant couple become quite smitten by their little blue visitors and agree to help them find their way home.

Of course, things don’t go according to plan, and it isn’t long before the Smurfs cross paths with Gargamel.

Filled with fun, adventure and excellent computer animation, the Smurfs is a family film that children will enjoy.
