A few years back most gamers would have picked up a LEGO video game sitting on a shop shelf, look at it and then smirk in amusement, and walk away in order to look for something a little more mature or noteworthy. However, truth be told, these titles are absolutely fantastic and should not be passed by. While LEGO titles have pretty much covered everything from Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and even Star Wars, it has now ventured into the world of super heroes… and what a world it is!
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes opens with the Silver Surfer, herald to Galactus, being chased by S.H.I.E.L.D. and the rather witty and sarcastic Iron Man. However, during the pursuit, they are interrupted by the evil mastermind Doctor Doom, who blasts the Silver Surfer out of the sky. The blast is so powerful that it shatters the Silver Surfer’s surf board into several ‘Cosmic Bricks’, which fall to the Earth. With these blocks containing an immense amount of power, Doctor Doom forges an alliance with Loki in order to collect the scattered bricks and forge the “Doom Ray of Doom”. However, S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury calls upon the super heroes of the Marvel Universe to retrieve these blocks and put an end to Doctor Doom’s plan.
