Diamond Arrow pointing at N17

The PMR Africa Diamond Arrow Award found its way back to the N17 hospital again.

The hospital was included in the Ekurhuleni Metro area survey for the first time in 2009 and won the bronze award.

“We never give up, and improved our standards to win the Diamond award for two years in a row, but in 2012 we came second and we were awarded the Gold award,” says hospital manager Derrek Hird.

Based on the survey conducted during September and October, the N17 is the highest rated in the business sector on an overall rating of 4.25 out of a possible 5 and it received the Diamond Arrow Award for the third time.

The competition is to be utilised as an investment tool for the metro area and the highest rated companies and institutions.

Hird says the ratings are based on the perceptions of the respondents, corporate and senior government officials based in the metro area.

The hospital was rated against the following criteria: companies/institutions that have done most to enhance economic growth and development of the metro area, levels of managerial expertise, implementation of corporate governance, brand awareness and levels of innovation.

“We are very proud,” says Hird.

The award was recently handed over to the hospital manager at a breakfast ceremony at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre in Boksburg.

The purpose of the awards is to celebrate excellence.

Hird says through the awards PMR Africa acknowledges and sets a benchmark for others to aspire to and is also creating an opportunity for companies and institutions whereby a team or division can be recognised for all their hard work.

He adds the award reflects on the hard work of the staff and doctors.

“We have put in a lot of teamwork and we need the whole supply chain to work together,” he says.
