Suspect gets mob justice

A man allegedly threatening to kill community members, was taken to hospital after he was attacked by the community.

Tsakane police spokesman Captain Petros Mabuza, says it is alleged that the suspect was running around the streets in Langaville Extension One and pointing a firearm at anyone that he came across.

Mabuza says according to the information that the police have, the man also pointed a firearm at a group of people who were at a local tavern.

He says angry community members went to look for him and set his house alight as well as the house belonging to one of the suspect’s friends, accusing him of being with the suspect when he threatened people using the firearm.

The suspect is under police guard in Thembisa Hospital after his body sustained serious injuries as the angry mob assaulted him after finding the unlicensed firearm in his possession.

A case of possession of an unlicensed firearm was opened. Mabuza says the Tsakane Police will not tolerate mob justice in that area.
