Brigades donate wheelchair to child in need

Ward 85 Clr Phikisile Mthiyane added that she will verify if the family is approved for an RDP house as their case needs special attention.

Tsakani – The Sawubona Mhlali Service Delivery Brigades have shown their commitment to serving vulnerable people.

This comes after they donated a wheelchair to a 12-year-old child with a disability last Friday, following household profiling in the area.

Brigades team leader Issac Ncengwa said, “We were conducting household profiling in Ward 84 in Tsakani. One of the needs we encountered in one of the households was a child with a disability. There was an urgent need of a wheelchair.

“As a form of intervention, we received a donation from the Tsakane Old Age Home. We are here today to deliver the wheelchair,” said Ncengwa.

The child lives with his mother in a shack. They survive on a disability grant from SASSA. The family has requested donations in the form of old clothes and food parcels.

Ward 85 Clr Phikisile Mthiyane added that she will verify if the family is approved for an RDP house as their case needs special attention.
