Mary-Ann Nogoli Maseko looked like a beautiful bride as she prepared to celebrate her 100th birthday on Wednesday.

Tsakani – Mary-Ann Nogoli Maseko looked like a beautiful bride as she prepared to celebrate her 100th birthday on Wednesday.

Maseko was born on October 2, 1924, in Qonce, formerly known as King William’s Town, in the Eastern Cape.

“I came here in search of a teaching job when I was 18 years old, and I never left,” she laughed.

The former teacher and businesswoman said she enjoys travelling.

“I went to Dubai for my 95th birthday. It was amazing. I plan to travel even more. I enjoy being in an aeroplane,” she said, noting that one of her sons-in-law is a pilot.

The centenarian goes to the Cape every year. Maseko has five children, 26 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

“I believe that to live longer, people should love themselves. They should try not to drink alcohol.

“If you love yourself and treat yourself well, you will have a good life I know that not a lot of people reach this age,” she added.

She said she has no plans of slowing down.
