Twist Real Ladies win netball tourney in KZN

Twist Real Ladies netball team won the tournament in KwaZulu-Natal on their debut participation.

Twist Real Ladies, a netball team from Kwa-Thema, won the Over 40 National Netball Tournament, which took place on August 23 and 24.

The tournament comprised 20 teams from all nine provinces, including Lesotho, and took place in Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal.

“We won all the games during the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals,” said Musa Mahlangu from the team.

This marked the sixth edition of the tournament. The previous winners were a team called Jozi Groove, but the Twist ladies grabbed the tournament win.

“It was our first time playing in the tournament and I am beyond happy that we won. Not only did we win but two of our players were announced as best players. Unathi Alfaan won best middle fielder while Mafathi Setsiba won best defender of the tournament.”

Mahlangu extended her gratitude to Extreme Edge Activewear for sponsoring them with the attire they wore during the games. Twist Real Ladies went home with a trophy, medals and netball kits.
