DIY projects to tackle together on Father’s Day

Working on projects together is a great way to foster a strong father-child bond.

It can be easy to live past one another in the hustle and bustle of modern living. Father’s Day can be a great time to slow down and spend quality time together as a family.

Tackling a DIY project together is a way to bond and create lasting memories as a family. Sharing some ideas, RE/MAX of Southern Africa lists fun, creative DIY projects you can tackle on Father’s Day:

• Bond over a birdhouse
It can be as detailed or as simple as your DIY skills allow. After completing the construction work, the younger children can decorate it. Once complete, find a suitable spot in the garden or on the balcony to hang it.
It will serve as a reminder of the time you spent together and might also allow you to tackle another activity together: bird watching.

• DIY projector and screen
Enjoy a movie night in cinema style by making your projector and screen. You can make a screen by building a simple frame with PVC pipes and attaching a white sheet.

The projector is a little trickier but can still be a fun project to tackle together. You will need an old shoebox, a small magnifying lens, a small piece of mirror, an LED flashlight and a glue gun to secure it all together.

• Create a fun tool board
If you are a dad who loves working in the garage, involve the children in helping you create a tool board to organise your tools. It can be a simple project. You only need a sturdy wooden board, hooks, and pegs to hang tools like hammers, wrenches and pliers. Before you put in the hooks, ask the children to paint and decorate the board.

“Home is where we learn, grow, and create lasting bonds with family and friends. That is why property transactions can be so emotional. It is crucial to partner with somebody you can trust when it comes time to sell your home or find a new one.

“My advice is to take your time and interview a few real estate professionals to ensure you find somebody you can rely on to deliver professional results and consider your specific needs,” concludes Adrian Goslett, the regional director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa.
