Open day event to raise funds for disabilities

The event will incorporate fundraising into a career expo.

The Charisma Music Foundation invites residents of the City of Ekurhuleni to an open day on May 31 at Kwa-Thema Old Age Home.

The event will be a fundraiser and career expo. The purpose of the fundraising is to raise awareness and support individuals with disabilities and able-bodied people.

“This event offers career exploration, networking and support for our community,” said CMF Ekurhuleni coordinator Priscilla Mofokeng.

According to Mofokeng, the CMF division empowers youth in the arts and voluntary work. She revealed in the past six months that they have engaged over 400 young participants from disadvantaged backgrounds, making strides in crèches, schools, disability centres, old age homes, orphanages, and community centres.

“The purpose of the event is to provide possible transitioning career opportunities for the participants, high schools and high school dropouts,” Mofokeng said.

Furthermore, they would also raise funds for Kopano, Wilson Lebone crèche, local SMME, Ncedo Orphanage, and other ECD centres.

The event will run from 08:00 until 16:00.
