Customised toilet changes man’s life

Mandla Mabuza struggled to use a regular toilet because of his disability.

The Kutlwano Social Organisation (KUSO) in Langaville gifted a paraplegic man a customised toilet on April 13.

Mandla Mabuza was delighted to have a customised toilet built for him because it would make his life easier.

KUSO’s act of generosity was part of its Toilet Project Handover. Mabuza approached KUSO for help with a customised toilet because a regular toilet does not work for his condition.

“I used to be wet all over my clothes during rainy days when I wanted to go to the toilet. “Now that KUSO has built me the toilet, I feel my dignity was restored. I see KUSO members as my God-sent caregivers,” Mabuza said.

“I have so much respect for this organisation, which has given me the love I did not deserve and the work they do in our community. I wish God could bless them abundantly,” he added.

The public and stakeholders witnessed the toilet handover. KUSO chairperson Dali Mofokeng cut the ribbon at the handover.

KUSO prides itself in prioritising the needs of disabled people, as per their motto, We Care. Mofokeng invited other organisations and the business community to join KUSO in reaching out to disadvantaged communities. Its goal is to build prosperous and developed sustainable communities.

Thanking those in attendance, the portfolio head for social welfare for KUSO, Sello Makete, said, “As KUSO, we shall continue to work with progressive organisations that advance the course of ubuntu, and we call on the disabled community to join forces with us to unlock opportunities that will break the dependency syndrome and inculcate the spirit of vukuzenzele (get up and do it yourself).”

The day ended with socialising and networking.
