Teams can’t practise on ungraded ground

Ward councillor to find help for a team

Tsakani – We Can Do This community project is having troubles with opening for the new year due to an ungraded ground.

The Ext 12 ground which the teams within the project use to train has overgrown grass.

Founder and coach Matshidiso Silinda said, “We were supposed to have started with training but it is difficult to do so and we no longer know where to turn to for help.”

Silinda said it has been three years since the metro sent a grader to grade the place.

“In winter we usually burn the grass making it easy for us to train afterwards,” she said.

Ward 85 Clr Moses Sibiya said the ground is an informal ground making it difficult to ask for a grader from the metro as there a lot of red tape.

“I allowed the project to continue without the metros knowledge and I try by all means to avoid questions such as ‘which activities are taking place there?’,” he said.

Sibiya said he usually asks contractors which have projects in the ward or nearby wards to grade the ground and he’ll do so even now should there be a project.
