Soweto soccer giants to lock horns on Saturday

Teka Matsepane said they have an upper hand against their opponents as Orlando Pirates does not have a trusted scheme to win the game.

Kwatsaduza – Soweto soccer giants Orlando Pirates and glamour boys Kaizer Chiefs will renew their rivalry on Saturday at the FNB Stadium.

As it stands, Orlando Pirates won the most recent meeting between the sides in May, but the Chiefs won the five head-to-heads before that.

Speaking to African Reporter, Kaizer Chiefs supporter Teka Matsepane said that they firstly would like to send a message of condolences to the family of Amazulu’s centre forward Bonginkosi Ntuli.

The 32-year-old player died of an aggressive form of cancer. He lost the fight on Sunday at Midlands Medical Centre Private Hospital in Pietermaritzburg.

Matsepane said they had an upper hand against their opponents as Orlando Pirates does not have a trusted scheme to win the game.

“They don’t have a goalkeeper after their keeper, Sipho Chaine, is still recovering from an injury. They are going to field Melusi Bthelezi as a keeper. We will use this to our advantage,” he said.

Orlando Pirates supporter Rangwane Makgabutlane said they aim for a 2-1 win to remind their rivals what they are made of.

“We have been losing matches in recent months, but I believe we have learned and identified our weak points to win the match. Saturday’s game will help us reclaim our name and remind Kaizer Chiefs that we are the Soweto giants,” he said.

Makgabutlane urged supporters to behave at the stadium, even if they lose the match.
