Two drug dealers arrested in Kwa-Thema

When the 26-year-old noticed the officers were a step closer to him, he tried to run, but they cornered him.

Kwa-Thema – The EMPD recently arrested two men for trading in narcotics. One man was arrested when the EMPD Community Liaison Unit officers were responding to a tip-off they received from a community member.

EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said the police received a tip-off about an illegal hawker selling dagga to the community.

“When the 26-year-old noticed the officers were a step closer to him, he tried to run, but they cornered him.

“The officers did a body search on him and searched his house, where they uncovered 26 Ziplock bags of dagga in his trouser pocket and bags of marijuana in his house before they handcuffed him and took him to the police station,” she explained.

The officers also raided a house, believed to be used for selling illicit substances.

They handcuffed a 46-year-old male occupant found on site after officers uncovered 38 small pieces of rock, six Ziplock bags of crystal meth and a homemade knife before they took him to the Kwa-Thema Police Station.

The two detained suspects, facing charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substance, and of possession of a dangerous weapon, are expected to appear at the relevant magistrate’s court soon.
