Awards celebrate Duduza’s heroes and heroines

The founder of the awards, Esau Dlamini, said, “We have successfully held our second annual event.”

Duduza – It was glitz and glam recently when community members came out to celebrate the Duduza Heroes Awards 2023 at Tsibi’s Pub.

The initiative aims to applaud and celebrate the dedication and hard work of many individuals, organisations and businesses in Duduza.

The founder of the awards, Esau Dlamini, said, “We have successfully held our second annual event. This year, we received an overwhelming response from the community compared to the previous one.

“We had over 100 nominees and 42 winners, and the community is involved in nominating their favourites.

“We also incorporated a fashion show to raise awareness about albinism and vitiligo, and local designers dressed the models,” he added.

The event saw celebrities like Frieda Makoba, who plays Kgari on Scandal, Tshepo King Stuff and Melinda Prosperity Mpofu.

The nominees for Duduza Heroes Awards 2023 will be opened in March next year.

Matshidiso Moloi, the marketing co-ordinator of the event, said they were grateful to the people who responded positively in making the event a success.

“This goes to all the sponsors, models and designers who made it possible for the event to happen,” she added.
