Ratanang celebrates birthdays of abogogo

Tembani Masango and Violet Molefe are over 100 years old each.

Kwa-Thema – The Ratanang Elderly Organisation celebrated Heritage Month last Wednesday at the Kwa-Thema Hall.

The day embraced various cultures and celebrated the lives of two senior women, Tembani Masango (103) and Violet Molefe (106).

The two are members of the organisation.

Nomvula Anna Sibanyoni, the organisation’s founder, said, “These women are also a part of our heritage because they lived in a time we were not a part of. They carry much knowledge from the past.”

Sibanyoni said these women were a blessing and the organisation valued them greatly.

“The women lived this long through leading a healthy life and eating organic traditional food. That’s why we had traditional food at the celebration,” she said.

The organisation awarded the founding members their contribution to it.

Sibanyoni said she was grateful to all those who helped to make the day a success by contributing to it.
