Three players selected to represent EGBA

Unrest in Senegal prevents player from going to All Africa games.

Duduza – Three Eyethu Badminton Development Club players will represent the Eastern Gauteng Badminton Association (EGBA) in the South African Badminton U17 Open and Inter-Provincial Championships in East London from October 1 to 8.

The selected players are 15-year-old Asanda Mabuza, 14-year-old Refiloe Tshabalala and 14-year-old Ofentse Mahlangu.

Their coach, Bongani Simelane, will accompany the players, saying they have a tough week awaiting them.

The trio also campaigned for U17 and U15 national teams, where they selected Tshabalala to represent South Africa at the All Africa Games in Senegal during this month. Because of unrest in the country, they have postponed the games until November.

Roller Mongala of Eyethu said, “Eyethu, with its limited resources, was thrilled with its development players.”

Mongala requested anyone from seven to 12 years old who wants to join the club to visit the Duduza Multipurpose Centre on weekdays from 15:30 to 18:30 or call him on 073 331 8982 or 082 228 1792.
