Siyajula Arise and Shine for Kwa-Thema to help keep the history of Kwa-Thema alive

On September 29, there will be a cultural festival in honour of Kwa-Thema legends.

Kwa-Thema – Siyajula Arise and Shine for Kwa-Thema is determined to keep the history and legacy of Kwa-Thema alive for generations to come.

The organisation was formed in June with the aim of building a museum to keep precious heritage items such as sculptures, art works and music instruments from local artists and legends.

Committee member Nicholas Makhubo said they are digging deeper into the history of Kwa-Thema and keeping all the history of the township alive to be passed to the next generation.

“The Kwa-Thema history book will help our students to learn more about Kwa-Thema and assist on research as well.

“At the end of the day everyone will grow and develop from our history and will bring back the love and culture of reading books,” he added.

As part of their objective, they are proposing to build a tombstone at the Ndaba Tree. The organisation will host a gala dinner in honour of Kwa Thema legends on September 28.

The ceremony will start at the Ndaba Tree at 15:00 and will proceed to the Kwa-Thema Community Hall at 16:00 where certificates and portraits will be given in honour of the legends.
