Tsakani’s Pule Tjaoana comes third in half-marathon

“I am happy with how I finished my race, and I wish Tsakane athletics clubs could come together and help each other so that we could all compete and share the moments.”

Tsakani – Pule Tjaona raised the Central Gauteng Athletics flag high when he finished third in the Nelson Mandela Bay Half Marathon.

The seasoned runner was among hundreds of athletes who competed in the half-marathon in Gqeberha on June 3.

He finished the race in 1:09:22 and came second provincially.MPule said he was nervous despite running for more than 20 years.

“Every race is different, and it is always nerve-wracking when you go to compete because you never know how the marathon will unfold.

“Every runner goes to the competition to win. However, it is always important to train your mind to accept the results,” said Pule.

He added he was fortunate to have a solid support system in his teammates, friends, and family.

The runner said he was happy with the outcome of the race.

“This was an amazing experience for every athlete because that is where you meet people who speak your language through the sport,” he said.

He continued by saying they had started training the development teams on the weekends so that by September, they would qualify for the cross-country event in Gqeberha later this year.

He wished other Tsakani athletic clubs could come together and help each other so that they could all compete and share the moments.
