Tebogo Mphoyabadimo nominated for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist

Nominated in Duduza Heroes Awards.

Duduza – Hip-hop artist Tebogo Mphoyabadimo, better known as Mr Neva Soba or Mkgerezi, has been nominated as the best male hip-hop artist in the Duduza Heroes Awards.

Tebogo started singing in primary school and church choirs and while in high school, he started taking music seriously.

The musician said the nomination and recognition by people in his community humbles him.

“It feels good that the people of Duduza appreciate and support my talent and hard work,” he said.

Looking back, Tebogo has won several awards for his music and was selected to be part of the book of an anthology called Listen to Our Cries. Later, he was part of another anthology book called Woman of Substances.

In high school, Lawrence Mohlala, his English teacher, became his mentor in creative writing.

Tebogo said after matric, he started writing and recording music and attended rap sessions, went to rap activity jam on Yfm, and later won a Kasi Tour Battle, organised by Yfm.

When people started listening to his music, guys like Lehlohonolo ‘Monster’, Shamrock, Kev Kool, and Master Franky, started making beats and helped record his first project.

He added, “They featured me on a lot of mixtapes, collaborated, and shot a music video with Andy Campton+ (USA) and Shamrock.

“I met Kujo, Black Ceaser, and Cypher, with whom we formed a hip-hop movement, called Imbawula Arts Production.

“I’m working on an album called Lyrically Militant. As soon as it is done, it will be available for music platforms.”
