Ratanang Elderly Organisation gives back to learners

Elderly organisation gives back to the young

Kwa-Thema – Ratanang Elderly Organisation celebrated their yearly founder’s birthday on Friday at Qedusizi Primary School in Kwa-Thema.

The founder of the organisation, Nomvula Sibanyoni said, “We usually celebrate my birthday on November 7 every year by having different programmes.

“We celebrated late this year as we had to give learners a chance to focus on their exams.”

Sibanyoni said they also motivated and prayed for the 130 Grade Seven learners at the school.

“The motivational speaker at the programme was Mapule Nhlapho, who spoke well to the learners. I hope her message was well received by the learners,” said Sibanyoni.

The Ratanang choir also performed for the learners before all Grade Seven learners were given toiletries as gifts. Joshua Thwala from the organisation also gifted all the school’s teachers with light bulbs. Qedusizi School principal George Ngoma said, “The elderly did way beyond our expectations.

“It was good seeing them taking care of the young while motivating and advising them on what to do to grow old as they have.”

Ngoma said they also appreciated the gifts given to both the learners and teachers.

“We will be putting them in our calendar for next year as we will be building a relationship with them for our annual programmes,” said Ngoma.

Ngoma said that from next year they will also include their intermediate and senior phase learners.
