Criminals swindle desperate residents with fake social media accounts
Criminals use fake accounts claiming to belong to MEC Lebogang Maile to swindle desperate residents.
Kwatsaduza – The MEC for Human Settlements, Urban Planning and Gauteng Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Lebogang Maile, is the latest victim of several fake social media accounts where his name has been used to swindle others.
In a statement released by the department, it clarified that people wanting to follow developments around the service delivery programmes in the two portfolios under his political oversight on social media are advised to access the Twitter and Facebook accounts of the two respective departments.

Maile calls on those establishing these fake accounts to desist from impersonating government leaders and using these valuable communication platforms to confuse the people of Gauteng.
