Tsakane Mall announces winners for SMMEs competition.

Three local businesses walked away with lucrative prizes on the day.

Tsakane – Doorstep Delivery was crowned the winner of the Tsakane Mall SMMEs competition on Monday.
The courier company walked away with two bikes to the value of R60 000.
Other winners were MNT’s Internet Café, which won prizes to the value of R20 000, and Kustom Kraft’s, which won prizes to the value of R10 000.
The mall ran the competition, which is aimed at empowering small businesses, from last year November until March.

The founder of Doorstep, Thandanani Madi (22) said: “I feel elated that my business won.
“This win will contribute towards our objective which is to bridge the gap between township businesses and customers.
“Our business will be an eco-system for other businesses.”
Zani Dludlu, marketing manager at the mall, said they have allocated an additional R10 000 that will go towards a mentorship programme for the winners.
“The point of the competition was to uplift and assist local businesses.
“In terms of criteria, we looked at the emerging markets, sustainability and passion.
“Businesses that could enter had to have been operating for three or two years,” explained Dludlu.
Mpho Masete (28), of MNT’s, said the winnings will help him to grow his business as he wants to add refreshments to the internet café.

“I started my business as means to be independent.
“Making it this far means a lot. It shows that I am a hard worker and my passion for entrepreneurship,” explained Matte.
Mandla Jamela of Kustom Kraft’s said his dream is to one day own his shop.
“My company started as a passion project. I used to create furniture for friends and family until I started getting more and frequent requests from the community as well.
“That’s when I realised that I could turn it into a proper business.
“From here onwards I am looking forward to nurturing it and seeing it grow,” he said.
