“The awards are open to any individual that fits into the qualifying criteria and is not dependent on sanctioning or permission from any organisation.
“As we are an independent organisation focused on the empowerment of women in sport and intellectual property owners of the Gauteng Women in Sports Awards.
“Recognition has the power to motivate and inspire, not just the person being recognised but the entire community around the recognised person.
“An award lives on as a reminder of the achievement for years to come.
Recognition for women in sport can create awareness and encourage other women to participate in sport and push themselves to be the best they can be,” said founder Moonira Ramathula.
Winners from each of the five regions, namely Westrand, Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg, Tshwane and Sedibeng automatically become finalists for the provincial awards, the Gauteng Women in Sports Awards.
