Club left with no venue for training

Wrestlers in desperate need of help.

Tsakani – Local wrestling club Battle Ground needs assistance with securing a venue they can use for training.
According to the club, since resuming training in March they have been without a proper venue and have had to train outside within the premises of Tsakani Stadium.

Battle Ground wrestlers Snethemba Chosane with a gold medal, Fezile Mjoli with a silver medal and Owami Sibeko with a bronze medal.

Since 2018, the club used one of the facilities in the stadium for training.
Coach Mpumelelo Mjoli said they used to renew their contract with management every six months. However, this year they never received feedback when they re-applied.
“We have been trying alternative venues with no luck whatsoever.
“A spacious indoor venue is what we need because we are a big team and wrestling requires an open space.
“Since we started this year we have been training outside which is not ideal for our sporting code,” said Mjoli.

According to Mjoli, training outside should only be done for strength training.
“To make matters worse, it is now winter and is cold outside.
“We feel helpless as we no longer know what to do,” he added.
They are pleading with anyone who can assist them.
On Saturday the club competed at the Shaun Bartlett challenge that took place in Brakpan and came back with gold, silver and bronze medals.
