Man arrested for attempting to hijack a bakery truck

Man arrested in Tsakani after his attempt to hijack the driver of a bread truck failed.

Tsakani – A 31-year-old man was arrested for attempting to hijack a bread delivery truck along Hlatswayo Street on Thursday.
The man was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Tsakani Police spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mngomezulu explained that while making deliveries and parked outside the store, the driver was confronted by a man pointing a gun at him.
“The driver attempted to drive off but, the gun fell inside the truck. While fleeing for his life he came across the EMPD whom he stopped and reported what had happened,” she said.

While still with the police, the driver received a call from his colleague informing him he was held up by the would-be hijacker, who was demanding his firearm.
He managed to convince the perpetuator to wait for him as he was driving back to the crime scene.
Mngomezulu added that the man waited and was later arrested by the members of the EMPD.
He will appear soon before the Tsakani Magistrate’s Court.
