Tsakani crime stats are alarming

Kwa-Thema and Duduza police stations didn't feature in the stats.

Kwatsaduza- The latest crime stats released by the minister of police, Bheki Cele, revealed there was a 20.7% increase in murder cases in the third quarter of 2021/2022.
There were 6 859 people who were murdered between October and the end of December 2021, which is an increase of 562 compared to the same period in 2020.
According to Cele, the top four causes of murder are robberies, arguments, vigilantism and retaliation.
Moving closer to home, Tsakani didn’t shy away from finding its position in the top 30 stations in the country.
In the category of sexual offences, the Tsakani Police Station occupied position 14 with 59 reported cases.
This is an increase from the 53 reported in the same period last year.
There were 50 rape cases reported at Tsakani Police Station with an eight case difference from the 42 that were reported in the same period last year.

Nine cases of sexual assault were reported at the station, seeing a case difference of -1 from the 10 that were previously reported.
Nine more cases of assault with the intention to inflict grievous bodily harm were reported. This is from the 172, which were reported during the same period last year.
Forty-four cases of carjacking were reported, with a case difference of six cases from the 36 that were reported in the same period last year.
One case of robbery of cash in transit was reported in the area. The station is at position 23 out of the 30 stations in the country for this category.
The police station secured 17th place in the driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs category with 94 reported cases, which is a drop of eight cases from the 102 cases reported in the same period last year.
Kwa-Thema and Duduza police stations didn’t feature in the stats.
