Golfers honour one of their own

The event was to recognise the role Roro played in the development and advancement of young people in the community.

Kwatsaduza – Local golfers participated in the Mike Teke Invitational Golf event at Houghton Golf Club in honour of Sandile Roro on Tuesday.

This was the first leg of the annual event, which is sponsored by Teke in honour of those who make positive changes in their communities.

Teke is a well-known business person who is passionate about community development issues and has been helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds with educational support over the years.

The event was to recognise the role Roro played in the development and advancement of young people in the community.

Teke said it is humbling and gratifying for him to be given such an opportunity to honor and recognise Roro.

“We are planning another event next year to benefit charity and mobilise the private sector to also use the event in supporting programmes and projects that are developmental and people-centric.
“The details will be made known in due course,” he said.

In appreciating the gesture, another participant, Cornelius Nomandla, said: “This is a great initiative to appreciate people who are doing good for the community.

“We wish to thank Teke for his foresight and visionary leadership in showing interest in the role that some of our mentors like Roro are playing in our communities. We are delighted to be part of this noble cause,” he added.
