Netball players sought

Former netball player, Velly Khumalo who is also the founder of the Spirit Development Netball Team, is inviting young people to join her team.

Kwa-Thema – A newly formed netball team is looking for players.
Former netball player Velly Khumalo, who is also the founder of the Spirit Development Netball Team, is inviting young people to join her team.
The team was established last year.
Khumalo, who started playing netball while in school, hopes the sport will help keep youngsters off the streets.

“My goal is to remove our young girls from the streets and from being involved in shady things like drugs, alcohol and teenage pregnancy.
“I am inviting anyone who might have an interest, regardless of whether they have played the sport before or not,” she said.
Her team caters for players aged 11 to 17.
“It doesn’t make sense to have sport facilities in our communities but shy away from utilising them.
“We need to keep sport alive in our communities.
“It helps in keeping our children away from dangerous things,” she explained.
They practise every Tuesday and Thursday from 15:00 until 17:00 at the Kwa-Thema Sport Complex.
The team also participates in the Kwatsaduza Netball League every fortnight.
