Voting underway in Kwatsaduza

Residents come out in numbers for the 2021 local elections.

Kwatsaduza – Election day started at a slow pace in Kwa-Thema with few voters showing up.
Tsakani and Duduza residents, however, were enthusiastic and ready to cast their votes in numbers when voting stations opened at 7am.
Senior residents were seen first thing in the morning at the voting stations.
Voters shared the same sentiments about the power they hold in their votes.
Kwa-Thema resident Gloria Mhlanga (62), who cast her vote at the Kwa-Thema Primary School voting station, said she is hopeful that there will be changes in her ward.

“We need pavements and stormwater drainage in our ward to help channel rain water on our streets.
“We also need the completion of construction projects. We have a number of ditches that were left open many months ago which are turning into danger sites, especially at night,” she added.
Pensioner Sarah Madhlozi Thauthau (73) said she is happy with how easy and fast the process was.
“I was in and out of the voting booth before I knew it.
“The service was excellent and efficient. There was no queue.
“Voting remains important for me as it is a way to help make a difference in my community, “she added.
Voting will remain open until 9pm.
